Uses

Zoloft (Sertraline Hcl) is used to treat severe forms of depression, panic attacks, obsessive compulsive disorder, traumatic stress disorder, social anxiety disorder (social phobia), and premenstrual syndrome (premenstrual disorder disorder).
Zoloft (Sertraline Hcl) can improve your mood, sleep, hunger and energy levels and help you restore your interest in daily life. It can reduce the number of attacks of fear, anxiety, unwanted thoughts and panic attacks. It can reduce the urgency to reduce repeating tasks (compulsions such as handling, counting and checking) that interfere with daily life. Zoloft (Sertraline Hcl) is known as a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). It works by helping to restore the balance of a certain natural substance (serotonin) in the brain.

How To Use Zoloft

Read the medication guide and, if available, the patient information sheet is provided by your pharmacist before you start using the Zoloft (Sertraline Hcl) and every time you get a refill. If you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Take this medicine guided by your doctor, usually once in the morning or even in the evening. The tablet form of this medicine can be taken with or without food. The capsule form is usually taken after breakfast or after the evening meal.
If you are taking Zoloft (Sertraline Hcl) for premenstrual issues, then your doctor may take you to this medicine every day of the month or for only 2 weeks before your period starts.
Dosage is based on your medical condition and treatment response. To reduce your risk of side effects, your doctor may direct you to start this medication on low dose and gradually increase your dose. Follow your doctor’s instructions carefully.
